Biography:

Kate Monro is a Toronto based artist who received her B.F.A. at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1991, and has exhibited throughout the Maritimes and in Toronto. Monro's last solo exhibition, alt.erotica.female, was at Gallery TPW, Toronto, October 1996. Cyberporn Gallery was initially developed while in residency in 1995 at The Banff Centre for the Arts.

Introduction:

Cyberporn Gallery was made in response to my first encounter with online porn: in fact it was my first extensive encounter with porn of any kind. Its about the absurdity and power of your desires. It is an ironic and playful commentary on the "simplicity" of the flesh, the person behind the image, and the often unacknowledged complexity of the "porn debate".
