Artists :: Alexis O'Hara (Quebec)
Electrotext Acoustica (Wednesday, Febuary 5th, 9:30 P.M.)

...is a non-disciplined artist who has been known to publish words and images, perform dazzling feats of social engineering with participatory art actions, and paint elaborate landscapes with her words. She has been known to rock the mic.

Bass + pedals + tape + toys + LX6 = one great show.

Active in the Montreal arts scene since her arrival from Geneva in ’97, Alexis O’Hara has kept busy, dividing her time between three parallel artistic pursuits: spoken word, sound art and live action art. She ran the Montreal Poetry Slam for three years. She has performed in 35 cities across North America. In 2000, she was 9th at the 10th Annual National Poetry Slam in Chicago. Since then she has been focusing on her art rock, both solo and in the noise band Jimmy Brain. Assisted by a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts, Alexis recently released a full length CD on the Montreal indie label, Grenadine Records. In spring 2003, Alexis will tour Canada and the US in support of In Abulia, a quirky mix of songs, stories and soundscapes.
