Pascale Trudel : Synchronicité

Synchronicite
Pascale Trudel, a composer and a multimedia artist particularly interested by cyberspace, was born in Quebec city in 1964. She obtained a bachelor degree in fine arts (visual arts) in 1986 from Concordia University in Montreal where she also studied electroacoustic music from 1985 to 1990. Since 1986, her work has been presented in Canada and abroad in concert, on the radio, on compact disks, on soundtracks for art video and since 1997 on the Internet.

Synchronicité

The project is composed of ten animations and soundtracks inspired by 10 old black and white photographs of my family, most of them taken between 1910 and 1940. These photographs are also included in the project.

I chose this period because it is distant from my life but at the same time it seems familiar because I have known the people in the pictures.

These photos are at the same time real, they are the portrait of a period, and unreal because that world doesn't exist anymore. The people in the photos are beginning to diseapear from my life and one day the only physical proof of their existence will be the photos.

Technical stuff:

Each part is composed of a first page with the original photograph and a second page where the photograph has been cut up and modified and animated using a combination of gif animations and javascript rollovers. By clicking on the animation you will hear the realaudio soundtrack.
